Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA)
Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), also known as acrylic glass, is an original material used for the manufacture of hard contact lenses. This material is malleable, scratch-resistant, break-resistant and minimizes the formation of deposits. However, it is no longer used for contact lenses, because the lenses proved to be too thin, and the material was not able to transmit oxygen.
