Optometrist
An optometrist is a specially trained
optician who is authorized (licensed) to perform eye examinations. This
includes prescribing and dispensing corrective lenses and other eye-care
products, and detecting eye diseases and abnormalities.
If an
optometrist discovers some abnormality or eye disorder during an
examination, he will instruct the patient to visit an ophthalmologist for
further medical treatment.
