Coloured contact lenses
Coloured contact lenses are designed to change the appearance of the eye. They may also be worn for vision correction. Coloured contact lenses are widely referred to as cosmetic contact lenses.
Coloured contact lenses are intended to change or enhance the natural colour of the iris. They are available in both prescription and nonprescription varieties. Non prescription coloured contact lenses allow anyone to experiment with their eye colour without vision correction.
Some coloured contact lenses
completely cover the iris, thus dramatically changing eye colour. Other
coloured contact lenses merely tint the iris, highlighting and
beautifying its natural colour. A third type of coloured contact lens is a scleral lens. These lenses are
larger and entirely cover the front part of the eye.
Sclera
lenses can be hazardous and should be worn with caution, as they allow much less
oxygen to reach the eye.
